It is hard enough for wild creatures to survive under normal conditions but many of them are struggling even more today due to the loss of their habitat to humans. Hunger has made their struggle easier to witness, especially with shy predators like the red fox. These creatures are normally nocturnal but their search for food has forced them to become more visible during the day. Soon after I moved into Frog Hollow, a fox made her presence known. Lucy’s days of being an outcast are long gone. She has become one of a big happy goose family thanks to LC. 2-web and his mate along with some others began returning a few days after the trio flew out, so they too must have had a bad hatch. All geese are currently in the final stages of molting, and the two young ones are just about ready to begin flight school training. Lucy was the first to begin the molting process in early spring. The trio returned and initially selected my roof for nesting. I was not sure I wanted to have them up there, and especially if it meant Lucy would be denied access to my house. They must have sensed my thoughts because they moved to the pond after a few days. Their site between two trees provided quick and easy access to the water.
